 o
cosmos, I can't believe

I direct sowed cosmos last week and I made sure they get watered daily. I think after 4 or 5 days, the sprouted. It is so easy like the calendulas. Looks like cosmos are even faster than calendulas! Do they need dead heading if I want it to have more blooms?

Also, I have a question on cleome. I saw sprouts on the front bed. I am so happy. I think I direct sowed them like 20 days ago. I remember last year, I indoor sowed cleome on a pot surround by christmas lights. After 4 days, it sprouted. Am I correct that it doesn't really need stratification for it to sprout? If so, I can still direct sow tomorrow, correct?

Thanks!

You are correct that cleome dose NOT require a cold period (stratification)

I did more like 10 days ago. I see all the tiny seedlings! I did more yesterday. :D

I'm thinking of doing more! Hehehe!

Do you know of other annual plants that can be direct sowed and sometimes considered by others as showy, show stopper?

zinnias are good for direct sowing.

I have 2 zinnia envy seedlings growing in pots. :D I've never seen them in person. It's my first time to have this annual. I'm glad that it was one of your choice.

I also have marigold seedlings. I forgot which type it was.

Thanks!
