| I would like to hear from people growing castor beans that where direct sowed. I would to know the height of your babies now. This is my first time growing it and I would like to know if my castor bean's height is ok. It's 2 inches tall now.
Thanks. |

| I can't believe what I am witnessing, the sunflower is growing 30% faster than my castor beans. |

| Looks like castor beans won't grow tall in my area. The other day, the sunflower was 4" taller. Today, it's 6" taller that castor beans. They are only 2 or 3 ft away from each other and both are in full sun. I'll keep you posted. To be fair with my castor beans, the deep maroon foliage is lovely! :D |

| The sunflowers will grow much faster than the castors. I think they also germinate in cooler temps. The stems on the sunflowers are less substantial so they are quicker, perhaps. I let my sunflowers self sow. I plant the castors in situ. They are a couple inches tall. |

| I found that info here for I always wondered the same 8D http://1greengeneration.elementsintime.com/?p=751 In situ means 'in the place,' and refers to seeds you plant directly in the ground; rather than seeds that you germinate in flats and then transplant - ie, ex situ. |

| Hi Virt - How are you? I remember meeting you at the swap. I planted some castor beans about 4 weeks ago. I planted some in the ground and some in a half-barrel planter. Only one of three sprouted in the planter, and none in the ground. It had been pretty cool, so I'm guessing that is why the one's in the ground didn't sprout. I've planted some more seeds in some peat pellets. When they sprout, I'll set them in the ground. |

| yeah, I remember you too. :) I direct sowed 20 and only 10 made it. It was 11 but one died after few days. I should have transferred it to a sunny location. |
