| I have been planting some veggi seeds and not knowing what i'm doing I decided to ask a few question. First off, I'm using Jiffy trays and tops with 1.5x1.5x2.0" cells, and Maricle grow organtic potting soil.
How moist do you want the soil? Does this depend on the seed your planting? Can these get too hot/Humid inside and cook your plant? I noticed I had a few that died when they came out of the soil. What is the rule on how many seeds you should plant together in one cell? Or does it depend on what veggi your growing? I have only have luck with Blue lake bush beans so far, but would like to get better. Any advice or links to more infomation would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

| Keep the soil very moist until the seedlings have sprouted well through it (until you have as many as you need/want). Watch out for white mold on the surface of the soil (if it appears, remove the lid for a few hours and place in light and it should go away). Other than that, you're using a good method & good starting soil. =) Remove them from the greenhouse when you see the 2nd set of leaves is about 1 cm or larger. Place into same soil in 16 oz plastic cups, potting up an inch or so higher on the plant than they were in the greenhouse. For helpful pics, go to THIS LINK. Peace - Steve |
