| Hello, I've been trying to germinate Byrsonima Crassifolia, after trying all other techniques of germination, I find myself cracking the seed.
It has a good 3-4 mm coat/shell/hull in all directions, it spherical, and extremely dense. I've never encountered such a thick seed. I found on the web that takes 9 months to germinate after 24 days of complete soaking, pretty tough seed. I grabbed some pliers and opened the seed, I was able to observe 1/2 of the embryo.. I am wondering if it would germinate. The embryo was not damaged on any way when I cracked the seed. Thanks! :D

| I am not familiar with your seed, but generally with seed that size with a hard seed coat, I use course sand paper fastened to wood blocks and role the seed between them to wear through the coat. Then when they are soaked the seed will swell indicating the moisture is into the seed. Al |
