| When the flower has died and a seed pod developed, put a bag over it with a rubber band to keep from losing the seed when the pod dries. When the stem with the pod yellows, the seed will be ripe and cut off the stem. Leave the bag over the seed pod and bring it in to the house. In a few weeks the seed can be cleaned of waste and put away dry in a sealed container. I do my seed cleaning in my recliner with a bowl in my lap while watching television. Makes me feel television is not a complete waste of time. Al |

| Some gardeners report Datura reseeding themselves, but I grow mine in pots and plant from 4 inch size pots. Al |

Calistoga:Does it make any difference WHEN the seeds are potted so long as they have dried out? Also, how can I be sure they are dried out?

| When the seed will come out of the dry pod, they are ready to plant. Datura is a annual and should be planted early in the season for the best bloom, but they can be started in pots anytime if you don't care if you have enough season left to bloom. Mine are just starting to bloom now. I don't know how long the seed will last as all my seed was collected last year. Germination was very good this year and I will see how it does next year. Al |

| Datura is sooo beautiful! I love them and am going to try them in my zone 4/5 and see how well they do here. I've double purple and double whites coming to try next season. :) |
