Good morning folks. I direct sowed cosmos on a full sun and all are doing great. I think height of some are in 1 foot and some are in 16 inches. I don't fertilize them as recommended.

I don't see any flower buds yet. When do they usually flower?

Thanks!

Hello! I love my cosmos! I did the same, I planted my seeds right into the ground in mid april. They have already started to bloom. They started about a week ago. I did however feed them a little miracle grow because I was becoming a little impatient. :) Hope they come soon so you are able to enjoy them!

I'm sure they'll start flowering for you soon (but cosmos are a little later blooming than many other annuals).

It is hard to predict when your cosmos will bloom. Cosmos is day-length dependent. It is a short-day plant. If you planted them early when the days were still short, they might bloom fast. If you planted them later when the days are longer, it will take them longer time to bloom (not just later but longer too).

Last year I bought some seed labeled cosmos, grew eight feet tall and never bloomed.

Thanks for the info. I wasn't aware that they bloom a little later. :)

Oh, still no buds on the tall ones. I do see buds on the short ones. However, I am not sure if those are cosmos. LOL :D The leaves looks similar though. I'll take pics tomorrow.
