I have some sycamore seeds from my boss's back yard that I'm guessing are from this year? We are at the border of zone 5/6 in Illinois. How does one go about growing these seeds? Do you let them winter outside and plant the next spring? How deep, etc. would you plant? I've read that sycamore seeds are easy to grow but can't find details on how to grow them.

Additionally, are the seed part actually the little fuzzy things on the outside of the ball or is it inside the ball? I dissected one but the inside seemed to be solid kind of like a nut.

The name Sycamore is used for perhaps six or more different plants. If you figure out which one you have go to Seeds and Seedpods to confirm what the seed should look like.

The seeds are the fuzzy part, not the ball. Plant them outside and they will sprout in spring.
