I purchased sugar apple seeds from trade winds fruit in June, and so far none of them have sprouted. I followed the instructions and sowed them 1 inch deep in seed starting mix. I then put them under a gro light. After a while, thinking they might not be getting enough heat, I put the pots in a plastic container with plastic wrap on top. The whole pot is heated now, but still no sprouts. What am I doing wrong?

I haven't grown sugar apple seeds, but pawpaw (Asimina triloba) is in the same family, and I have started lots of those. Pawpaw seeds can take quite awhile to get started. They first send out a root, and several weeks later the shoot emerges. Are you looking at the seeds, or just looking for shoots above the soil? Alex

I am just looking for shoots above the soil. I can't see the the seed because it is buried.

If it was me waiting, I would push the soil aside carefully to have a peak!

I am interested in knowing how your Sugar Apples turned out. I just received the same from TradeWinds. Thanks, Richard

They took too long to germinate, so I transferred them to peat pellets. Unfortunately, they rotted so I ordered from ebay. Fortunately, they germinated, so that worked.
