blooms from fall sown seeds?

I've never had anything to do with growing from seed before since it seemed too difficult. I've been reading about direct fall sowing though, and it seems like it couldn't be easier. I was wondering though, in your experience, when do you first see blooms from fall sown seeds like poppies, bachelor's button and nigella (love in a mist)? I'm in zone 5b, and I guess it depends on the weather, but I was curious what other people's experiences were.

Thanks!

RE: blooms from fall sown seeds?

Sometimes they grow a rosette of leaves in fall, overwinter, and bloom in spring. Sometimes they wait and sprout (germinate) in spring. Depends on the plant.
