| I grew a red and yellow striped variety of single bloom marigolds from seed last year and they were beautiful. I had bought the seeds at lowes. I bought the exact same ones this year and grew them out in 4" pots just like always. This year, they are really ugly. The plants are about the right height, but they are real lanky (stragly) looking and the blooms are small and not very colorful. They seem to just be growing up to their max height and them blooming but never filling out so they look like tiny little trees. Any idea's whey they turned out this way. I grew them in 4" pots in full sunlight, watered twice a day (it's really hot this summer). Any help would be wonderful.

| Have you fertilized them at all? They may need a little nitrogen to help fill out the foliage. I use a 1/4 to 1/2 strength miracle-gro solution on mine occasionally during the season.HTH |
