Apricots from pits, any tips?

I just collected a few dozen apricots that dried up and stayed hanging on the trees rather than fall or be eaten by wildlife. I cracked a few open, and there appear to be viable seeds inside. I know all about cold stratification of seeds, but while cracking open the test seeds I couldn't help but notice how hard and thick the shells are. Do apricots need any type of scarification or pre-cracking as well to germinate?

Thanks.
