Germinating lettuce seeds

I'm starting some lettuce seed in trays indoors for a fall garden, and I have my shelves & grow lights set up in my garage where it gets to up to 90-100 degrees during the days, 70's at night. I've obviously had really lame germination in the garage so far, and when I brought one of the trays into the house, after a few more days they finally started to sprout. Once they've sprouted, will they continue to grow well back out in the hot garage? Do they just need the 70-85 degree temps to germinate, or do they need those cooler temps to continue growing?
