Indoor/Outdoor Glass Display Case Planter

I just wanted to pass this along to other growers.

I was looking at cold frames, hydroponics and other indoor/outdoor growing containers and found them to be expensive.

I was surfing craigslist and happened upon a free item that I thought would be perfect. It is a glass retail display case. This one was old and the bottom wood damaged and the floor was soft and rotted but the glass was not broken and I thought it would be perfect.

I got it free and hauled it home. It had lights but the cord had been cut off. I bought a few 2x4s and braced up the bottom and also added wheels for moving. I put in plywwod and regular cabinet sticky paper in the bottom and cut off a cheap extension cord for the lights.

All together this cost me less than $20. It is easy to move and the back slides open so I can water, etc. The lights even worked. It has two flourescent bulbs in it. but i could add other lights.

I see these for sale on craigslist for a lot less than expensive growing containers. I'm going to get another one before spring.

I'm looking forward to trying this out!
