Peach pits; germinating from seed?

I've been getting these locally grown peaches for the last month, they are so good. Just for fun, I wanted to see if I could get one of the pits to germinate... is it possible? Has anyone tried it before?

If it is possible, I'm not sure where to start - so any idea's would be helpful. Thanks!

Leslie in Colorado. :)

I know it's possible. My Mom did it. She still has the tree in the back yard.

yes it's possible, but the tree won't be true to type. In order to get the same peaches that you are eating, you need a graft.
