| Hello,
This is my first post, and my first time trying to grow anything from seed. I bought some royal poinciana tree seeds off of ebay, and followed the instructions, which said to knick off a tiny bit of the seed, boil for 4 min, then soak seed overnight in water. Then I buried the seeds about 1/2" deep in potting soil, I kept the top of the soil moist and kept it inside. Today being the impatient gardner decided to undig one of the seeds and to my surprise I found what look like to be maggots on the outside of the seed. So I took it out of the dirt and smushed the seed because it looked dead and out came a whole bunch of white maggot like bugs. So what did I do wrong?, how did maggots get to my seeds. out of the 4 seeds only one has started to grow. Any suggestions would help Thanks

| With out further information my best guess is that the "maggots" were in the soil you used to germinate the seed. It is for this reason many of use STERIL soil or a STERIL soil-less mixxture to germinate the seed.... |
