Tea seeds

I got some Camellia Sinensis seeds a while ago. I tried germinating a few by soaking but I've yet to get them to sprout. I was going to try cracking the shells a little to help em out but I wasn't sure as to how much I can crack them without hurting the seeds. Does anyone have any expertise with tea seeds?

soak seed in water for 24 hours then store at 40F for 4 weeks then lightly cover seed soil temp 65-70FT takes 60+ days to germinate

Does the storing at 40F help soften the shell?

RE: Tea seeds
