| About a year ago, I planted two tamarind seeds on the ground. When the seeds sprouted, I noticed that one of the seedlings was growing on a stick! Somehow, it had sprouted from a stick that was not part of the plant, but it grew to become a part of the plant. Now, the stick is getting thicker along with the plant, but you can still see where the plant "grows" off of the stick. Can anyone provide an explanation for this?
Also, will tamarind be able to grow in North Carolina? It gets a bit chilly here in the winter, but I'm hoping that once it gets too big to keep in the house, it will have grown enough to resist the cold. |

| This is a tropical plant & MAY survive a mild winter with pprotection outside but the odds are it will not survive outside in the winter. |
