Hi all,

Is there anything wrong with my lilacs? We do cut off alot of flower clusters to display in the house every spring. I have another lilac of a different variety that doesn't look like this at all--it is full and healthy.

Any suggestions? thanks in advance

Doesn't look that abnormal. Open growth is typical of common lilacs. Lack of vigorous new growth would be case for concern.

its a VERY immature plant .... all you can do in that regard is wait...

you need to remove the grass.. and add a mulch bed of 2 to 3 feet to reduce weed competition..and increase water retention..and to keep the weedwhip and lawn mower away from it ...

patience.. ken

Thanks for the advice! It is good to know there is nothing seriously wrong.

I am mulching them well with rotted manure/hay.

thanks again
