What is this

Hi all

I received this in a trade 2 years ago as a japonese maple. I doubt this is. Cannot find it anywhere. Can somebody help me here. It seems to be evergreen but Im not sure as I burried it in the winter. I would like to plant it somewhere but want to know the mature size before.
