It looks like it might be Viburnum nudum... does it have blue berries? Can you post another pic?

No berries, dry alkaline soil, partial shade. The pic I posted shows a leaf about 4" long, opposite, red stems. I have a feeling I dug it up from a ditch someplace, so I'd guess it's either a native or invasive.

I'll post another picture tomorrow (sigh, it gets dark so early now).
