I am going on a 3 month trip and won't be back till end of April. I was wondering if I could cut down my buddleia now instead of beginning of March and would that be detrimental to the plant.

If your choices are now, or the end of April, I'd pick end of April by a landslide. Pruning is back now might possibly kill it, while end of April is only about a week or two late.

seriously shelley.. you are escaping NY for 3 months.. and somehow.. your priority is to worry about you buddelia???? come on ???!!!! lol they dont winter over well for me.. in my z5 ... how old is yours .. and will it really matter which you do??? plus.. this plant is very dependent on soil temps.. and in my z5.. the soil wont be warm enough thru most of april.. for it to matter.. now or them.. when you prune it ... have a great trip .. ken
