When to cut back shrub?

Hey everyone, I have a couple of I believe boxwood shrubs that I need cut way back. I need to know when is the best time to do this since I'm not just trimming the shrub I'm cutting it back at least a foot. Is in during winter, spring? Also I live in north Florida.

The best time to trim it is when it's growing.

Shearing-type pruning,m which is often done on shrubs with tiny foliage, like box, is usually done, like Mike said, during the growing season. What you're contemplating is actual structural pruning. I'm no boxwood expert but I'd tend to think of this the way I do all regular pruning-best done late winter/early spring.
