| I inherited some Prunus laurocerasus 'Schipkaensis' which were also labeled SCHIRKA LAUREL on the card. I found that information on the plants still attached. About 3-4 of these bushes died a year ago leaving me with only 1 row left. I would really like to keep the other 4 bushes. This year in Georgia we had a lot of rain so I'm not sure if that has helped them but the 4 did fine. Does anyone know why the others would have turned brown over time. It was strange because it started in sections. One section would die and then another. The first several year after I moved in they didnt have this issue.
Is it possible it was a disease>? Thanks much |

| Probably a water mold such as Phytophthora. Would take testing such as that which may be offered through your state Extension office to identify the specific agent(s) involved. Sampling and testing of declining native maple trees at the local arboretum found several pathogenic genera present. Possibly you have more than one at work there as well. |
