Is Kolkwitzia 'DreamCatcher' fragrant?

Does anyone know if the Dream Catcher cultivar of Kolkwitzia is fragrant? I've heard the species is, but Bluestone doesn't list the DreamCatcher has fragrant. Also, is it as easy to grow as the species?

I've just about decided to plant one, and I'd love to use Dream Catcher for the foliage, but I want something fragrant....

Thanks!

RE: Is Kolkwitzia 'DreamCatcher' fragrant?

Sarah, I don't have any experience with 'Dream Catcher' in the landscape as they are a fairly recent intro. I've been carrying small 3 gallon plants at my nursery for a few seasons now and have never noticed a particularly strong fragrance. The plant should be just as hardy and easy to grow as the species. The foliage color is a definite plus for 'Dream Catcher' as beautybush does'nt flower for very long and is'nt much to look at for the 50 weeks of the year it is'nt in bloom. Hope this helps! woody_ct
