Star Anice to Espalier

First of all, I know the seeds I bought won't germinate, but if they don't I'm going to buy a plant anyway. What I want to know is can they be espaliered or trained to grow as a fence?

I mean this by the star anise being shaped into a t-shape for the middle fence, then v shaped for the corners. Is it a bush and can it be pruned as above too?

I ordered a ton of seeds for my next garden, and this was one of them. I'm disappointed they won't germinate, but I'm going to try anyways.

RE: Star Anice to Espalier

There is some confusion about plants commonly known as Star Anise. Can you give us the Latin genus and species of the seed you purchased?
