I wondered if anyone knows if deer go after Henry's Garnet Virginia Sweetspire?

Deer resistance is relative - if curious or hungry enough deer will eat anything. But Itea virginica is usually included on lists of deer resistant plants.

Understood about deer eating anything if hungry enough, but before planting some of these though wanted to make sure they're not like catnip to cats such as it is with cherry trees, tulips and roses (from my experience). I've given up on cherry trees, tulips and roses on most places of my property due to deer treating them like a buffet line!

Highly deer resistant. Deer would have to be starving to eat it. And yes, cherry trees, like apple, peach etc, and tulips and roses are a deer smorgasbord. To the buffet you could add yews and hostas. There are a great many highly deer resistant plants and you should concentrate on those.

I had about 10 Henry's Garnet Va. sweetspire in my yard, but they're all gone. Deer ate them. Deer eating habits, at least that I've observed, seem to change from year to year. This past year they ate several of my small mahonias down to the mainstem.

You're going to be going around and around indefinitely unless you fence them out. Why let the whims of animals decide how you garden?
