Looks like a camellia of some sort. If it's Camellia sinensis, you can make tea from the leaves. My tea plant bloomed in the late fall, so if it's blooming now, it may be a japonica camellia or another species. Or perhaps Camellia sinensis just blooms later where you are.

How large are the flowers? Tea plants tend to have very small blooms.

I'd say this was a Prunus.

If you examine the peduncle, for one example, this is not Carolina Silverbell. Also, the picture was taken in Southern China.

Do you think it could be Camellia lutchuensis AKA Camellia transnokoensis Hayata?

A Google image search pulled up some similar-looking blooms.

The sinensis plants I've seen have smaller flowers in comparison to leaf size, but I imagine all camellias can be pretty variable.

You might also want to consider Camellia tsaii as a possibility- the trouble is there are so many species that are similar-looking.

I didn't see that you mentioned where you saw this plant?
