Anyone growing Disanthus cercidifolius? I'm curious about hardiness, pests, any special needs, pruning, etc.

It's difficult to generalize when you have only a single plant, but... I've found disanthus cercidifolius to be a very easy to grow plant with no pest issues at all. It has been a moderately fast grower. Mine is about 6 feet tall by 4 feet wide - planted as a very small rooted cutting 10 years ago. The main reason for growing this is the fall color. In order to have a good autumn show, the plant needs a good amount of direct sun even though the plant grows well in shade. Sun and heat are not important issues in my coastal climate, but in warmer areas morning sun and afternoon shade would probably be best. BTW, check out some of the named varieties of disanthus at wwww.asiaticanursery.com.

The link is fine. You seem to be leaving out the third "a". It's www.asiaticanursery.com
