If anyone could help me identify this leaf or strand of leaves it would be greatly appreciated. I picked it for a project for college course not realizing I would need to know it's name so I did not pay attention to the source. I know it was a shrub or a tree - since I haven't had much luck finding it on the tree leaf identification sites I think it was a shrub. I live in the Sacramento, CA area to narrow down the options. Thank you for any help.

Hard to tell. Was it blooming or did it have any fruit? A shrub or a tree. That doesn't narrow it down too much. How high? Was it more upright or weeping? A photo of the entire plant would help. I'm thinking maybe Podocarpus, or maybe even Callistemon. Heck maybe even oleander.

Or Giejera parviflora? Need picture of entire tree.

Or maybe a podocarp. Your picture doesn't show many useful details even of the sprig, let alone the rest of the tree.
