Looks like it has the conical inflorescence of Hydrangea paniculata. Lack of green is "ugly" because of how the planting is designed. The conifers appear to be ganging up on the hydrangea, presumably because it does not look like them.

The hydrangea is also the only spot where dead fallen leaves have made a substantial accumulation. This does not help.

Such as shrub would make a good companion for perennials flowering at the same time, with a fence or hedge behind. It does not have the right structure and character for use as a centerpiece.

yeah.. when the conifers were all one gallon babes.. it fit real nice in there, covering some ground . .. and now it is pissin me off.. not to mention the hundreds of rooted in branches ...

so its your opinion to be done with it .... i am leaning that way..

but you didnt answer my question should i leave it... old or new wood bloom???? if i just decide to run it over with the lawn mower ..???

Can you photograph just one of the dried blooms? It's kind of far away.

cant find a better pic..

they open a parchment white with pink highlights ... turning into a rose speckled dirty white.. progressing to tan/brown ... and dry and last forever..

Sounds like a paniculata and those bloom on new growth. So it can be pruned back hard now if necessary/desired. Hydrangeas add a lot of color to the garden and paniculatas are pretty low maintenance as hydrangeas go -- if I were you, I'd consider moving it to a more suitable location......it DOES look like it's being ganged up on :-)
