Moving lilacs - before flowering or after

What's the best time to move lilacs. As early as possible, before flowering, while dormant. This is something I've been planning for several years and putting it off. They are all smaller shrubs that have outgrown their location and need to go elsewhere. It seems to me early spring is better. After flowering it's already warmed up and lilacs might be affected by heat. Thanks!

ASAP.. and if you lose the bloom for this year.. so be it..

lets be honest.. if you dont do it right now.. you will put it off for a few more years.. lol ...

besides.. you need that space for other things.. right????

You already knew the answer and just needed someone to tell you to go do it, right? Or, maybe you were hoping someone would say to wait, giving you more time to procrastinate? LOL
