yes.

maximusdecimus, the reason why I ask the question:

there was an Azalea next to it. The two looked quite different, leaves, flowers, etc.

RE: Not sure what this is - possibly an Azalea?

There are hundreds if not thousands of different azaleas - from teeny tiny leaves to large, from deciduous to evergreen, light green to dark leaves, etc. And then the flowers range from white to yellow to pink, lavender, etc. So they very easily could look different. Azaleas and rhododendron are both members of the genus Rhododendron and some rhododendron resemble azaleas at first glance so that opens up the field even more!

This is a wild shrub. Can you id its species?

 o
RE: Not sure what this is - possibly an Azalea?

It may be wild as in uncultivated but it doesn't look like any native azalea I've ever seen. The color is too intense, flowers too large and it appears to be evergreen (if photo is at all recent). I'd guess just a garden escapee

garden gal 48, the picture was taken in a mountain in South-East China.

A mountainside in SE China?!
Why wasn't that mentioned to begin with? It would have narrowed down the choices for our experts here.

This topic reminds me of a snasxs topic in so many ways...

RE: Not sure what this is - possibly an Azalea?

j0nd03 7b AR,

What is a sanxs topic?

 o
RE: Not sure what this is - possibly an Azalea?

Snasxs is user on GW that posts random pics of plants from China with little to no background as to the plants location and requests ID of said plant. She also apparently posts copyrighted photos without permission in her topics.

Hadn't seen her on recently and saw you just created your account. I am suspicious if it is an alt account. She usually trolls the tree forum, though.

John, I am interested in plants, not politics on here. I hope there are forums for that purpose.

 o
RE: Not sure what this is - possibly an Azalea?

I won't talk politics as long as you don't bring religion into the discussion ;-)

j0nd03, you need help.

 o
RE: Not sure what this is - possibly an Azalea?

Isn't that the truth!

 o
RE: Not sure what this is - possibly an Azalea?

j0nd03 7b AR, if she is also from the US, then it would be odd that you do not want to discuss religion with her. The most popular TV show in the US is called "the Bible".
