Pruning 'Goshiki' osmanthus

Does anyone have experience with pruning/shaping of "Goshiki" osmanthus? I've been looking for a pyramidal variegated evergreen to add to a foundation bed. Goshikis have been mentioned as a possibility by a couple of local (not big box store) garden centers, but I'm concerned that the natural, rounded growth habit of these plants might make shaping it into a columnar or pyramidal shape difficult. I'm not expecting the end result to be some crazy, super symmetrical bonzai look-- just enough of a pyramid/column shape to differentiate them from the rest of my fat, rounded foundation plants.

Maybe try a conifer instead, such outlines are much more usual with those. Variegated cultivars are on the market.

Victorine,
I recently moved a mature O. 'Goshiki' growing under irrigated full sun conditions as it grew much larger than I expected. It is a pyramid/column shape that lends itself well to shearing as two of it's five colors (Goshiki means five colors)are only found on the new growth. I was shearing 12-18" all around without any noticeable difference as it is a very dense shrub. There are some photo's of mine before it was moved to a more suitable location in the thread linked below. It is a beautiful carefree shrub but maybe too large for a foundation bed even with shearing. katy
