Please help identify me!

Am I a shrub? A plant? A tree? A climber?

Half our yard is lined with these guys, which are growing in, over, under, around and through the wood and chain link fence. They are evergreen, and get small light green/whiteish flowers which turn into white berries in the fall, and stay on all winter, then burst and the inner part is orange, as you can see, in spring. The birds don't seem to care fore them, that I can tell.

Any ideas?

TIA!

Amelia

That is a type of Euonymus. There are shrub forms (mostly) but there is a vine form too. Not native.

why .. it appears.. you are sweetpea ... what more do you want.. lol ...

and apparently todds ..

is this one or two independent plants...

or has it planted more of itself all along that fence.. and if so.. that probably means it is somewhat invasive ...

presuming you like the sight block.. what i would suggest .. is that you clear certain areas .. and plant some good plants ... and give them a chance to get going.. to grow a new sight block.. and over the next few years.. keep planting.. and hacking this thing back ....

and.. being as aggressive as it seems .. you could probably cut a few to within about 3 inches of the ground.. and it will grow like the weed it probably is ... and be back to covering that fence by mid to late summer ...

i dont know on the ID .... not that he is wrong..

ken

ps: i think your fence needs some work .... lol .. which will be my understatement of the day ... lol

Hi Amelia,
'Manhattan'euonymus is extremely popular for us but I've never known it to self-seed like that.
Anyway, that's what I suspect you have, Euonymus kiautschovicus AKA Spreading Euonymus.
