 o
butterfly bush cuttings rooted in water

I have two butterfly bush cuttings, but they have been rooted in jars of water. One looks like an 8 in dead stick with a few roots at the bottom, the longest which is about 5 inches. The other barely has roots start growing. Both have been sitting in the water since last fall.

I don't know how to make the transition between the jar of water and some dirt. I'm beginning to think they should have been put in a pot to begin with.

with such ... though i have no specific experience .. i would put them in very damp potted media.. and bag them in a baggie ... with the top open.. in bright shade ... [no direct sun with the baggie]

whats to lose???

ken

ps: common names bring problems.. i presume you are talking about the shrub.. not the perennial ..?????
