| My two flowering almonds were seriously damaged by heavy snow/ice over the winter. I noticed on closer inspection that at least one of them seems to have a borer infestation. I saw a lot of gummy gunk around the soil line and a fat larva having a good time, in addition to several other holes around the crown. There was some bark damage on the other, though whatever was on it wasn't fat and white, but rather small, dark and thin.
Any advice on treatment or would it be best to return them for a refund before the one year guarantee is up? Thanks. |

| This and other members of the Prunus genus (plums, cherries, peaches, etc.) are very subject to get borers. I would be surprised if the nursery would guarantee them against insect damage. But, if you got them from a big box store, dig them up and go for it! Even if they did survive being cut to the ground they probably wouldn't bloom next year. hortster |

| Thanks for the reply. They're from a box store which in my experience has been no questions asked so I'll give it a shot. |
