Will Rhapeolepsis in shade grow okay?

There are so many shrubs I like that call for "full sun". Here's my guess: I can plant an Indian Hawthorn, for example, in shade and all will be well except it will bloom little or not at all. Is this correct? Will the growth rate be much effected?

It won't be slower than in full light and not likely to be completely without blooms. Just maybe more open-growing.

What consists of "shade" in a particular instance always has a bearing on likely outcomes.

Yea! Thanks so much for replying. Now I can get going on this project. The open growth will be better than the more compact/dense when in full sun.

In my experience, they are much more (as in waaay more) likely to be troubled with Entomosporium leaf spot when grown in less than ideal conditions. Once this disease, which is always a possibility with Rapheolepis, begins to show up, it is difficult if not impossible to get rid of.

I'd also not describe them as 'more open', but downright scrawny when grown in shady conditions. Of course, there are lots of degrees of shade/sun!
