Howdy, who is a reputable on-line nursery for me to purchase ~ 10 2-3' Green Giants? Thank you...

Howdy to you too. If I were in need of them again, I would order them from Botany Shop Garden Center. They sell all sizes, but I would recommend selecting the ones that are less than 3 feet.

The reason for planting this variety while still small is because they have very limited root systems. The smaller plant will have less demands on it (foliage area) so the small root volume will have a better chance of supporting the foliage.

They will put on maybe a foot in the first year, and then a couple of feet a year, and then they grow like mad after that. You just need to get them through the first year with that small root system. Less foliage at the start is the way to do it.

The link is below says that size (24" - 30") is out of stock -- I would call them to see when they will be available.

Keep them mulched and watered all season, and plant them high so they get good drainage. I remember having to stake them at first because there were so few roots it didn't seem like they could hold themselves up. But be sure to take the stakes off after the first year.

Best of luck with these beauties. They are majestic once they start getting big (mine are 12-15 feet, and I put them in 5 years ago when they were 24 inch twigs.) They will expand in width politely and stay narrowish (unlike some other Arborvite) And the fragrance! Not to be missed.

I know this is way more information than you asked for, but hey, I love this tree!

Thank you very much, just ordered...

These are common enough and popular enough that they are likely available locally (no shipping charges) - have you checked you local Home Depot or Lowe's or any nearby retail garden centers?

And it might help any online search if you are looking for the correct plant -- that would be Thuja 'Green Giant' :-)

try to insist on single leader plants.. and return any that arent ...

insure they are properly hardened off for your zone.. ask them if they are coming out of a greenhouse ...
