Dwarf Crape Myrtles

I am looking for dwarf CM's for the front entrance to our neighborhood. I have several Pocomoke shrubs in my garden, but they grow too quickly. I have been trimming them every other year to keep them small and compact. I need something that will be a slower grower vertically, as well as horizontally. I want summer color and a shrub that will not quickly outgrow the small island space.

Thanks to all!

Here are some possibilities. Check them for yourself though (especially for size).

'Chickasaw'
'Gamad III' (Snow Dazzle)
'Gamad IV' (Ruby Dazzle)
'Gamad V' (Dazzle Me Pink)
'Whit V' (Tightwad Red)

You may need to install a giant Fresnel lens in front of them so they can actually be seen. I'm having a hard time picturing the need for such small ones in a subdivision entrance. Maybe you should consider some type of groundcover instead?

You don't say where you live. There may be better shrubs for that space than a dwarf crape. I have a Pokomoke in my garden, but it's leafless so much of the year. While I like the color (and I love crapes), I almost prefer a nice, compact evergreen Azalea, like a 'Chinzan'.

If you live in a milder zone, you could probably find a host of low, evergreens that bloom.
