Does 'Sensation' leaf out later than other lilacs?

Other lilacs in my area have been leafed out and blooming for quite awhile now but my 'Sensation' is still just sitting there. I pinched off a tiny leaf bud and it looked green so I think it's alive but why so late leafing out?
I just planted it last spring and wondering if I should return it while it's still under warranty if it's just barely hanging on. It certainly looks dead. I think they might let me trade it.

Thanks Ken -
Maybe I should also ask if it's normal for YOUNG lilacs to leaf out late. I'm afraid this one might be near death and I'll wish in the middle of summer that I had traded it while I still could.

right now.. on the few i have looked at ... and it has been ridiculously cold this spring ..

the flower buds are getting about the size of my little finger nail ....

but there are few if any leaves on the thing ....

if you do not have flower buds on the tree ... it might not surprise me that you dont have leaves yet ...

transplants can do weird things.. the first season.. give it some time...

all that said.. when does the warranty run out.. and have you called them and asked them what they think about the situation???

it sounds like you are weeks ahead of me .. and though it sounds like your sens is equivalent to mine... it also sounds way behind those already blooming in your yard .. whats that all about.. oh.. that was your question.. lol

The date on my receipt was exactly a year ago today but I called them and they said to give it another 10 days and they would still honor the one year warranty. So I guess I'll wait, but the darn thing better not leaf out then die in June.
