pittsporum loosing lower leaves

We have 3 green pittosporum shrubs. They are 5 years old and 6 ft tall. This year the top 2 feet are nice, green and full.
But the lower 4 feet are almost bare.
They appear healthy.
Will the bottom leaves come back ?
The bush faces the afternoon sun so it isn't a case where the top is shading the bottom.

hard to tell much of anything w/o a pic ...

have they leafed out this spring yet??? ...

even evergreen lose their leaves.. as the leaf ages ... and for a multitude of stressors ..

but the future is in the buds .... and even though the leaves fall off ... it might releaf ... time will tell
