Recommend evergreen shrubs

Can you please suggest some of the evergreen shrubs to plant around the house? I live in a snowy zone and hence prefer evergreens so even during the winter you see some greenery around your house. Shrubs should be less than 4 ft in height.

Once such shrub that fits the bill is Boxwood. But they don't grow fast unless someone knows a type of fast growing boxwood.

Boxwood need protection from winter sun, but I cover with pine sprigs in the winter, or wrap in burlap.

They aren't fast growers, but they aren't slow growers either, for me.

Green Velvet has a nice mounded shape. I trim annually to retain the shape.

Green Mountain has an upright conical habit, but can take to shearing into a hedge form very well.

Green Gem are very compact and rounded in form, can also be sheared to a hedge shape, if desired.

Otherwise, go for the yew. Don't trim the tops until they've reached the desired height. Once you trim, they grow at a snails pace, wish I had known that sooner. If you don't trim, you'll get more growth out of them, at least that's the consensus.

I also like Sarcoxie Euonymus, though they are susceptible to scale. I have one in shade that is infected. The one in sun is not. Pretty spring blooms, and spreads as a groundcover as well as "climbing" up a fence or support.
