Hollys slow to 'green up'?

Posted by lisa2004 NY Z5/6 (My Page) on

I planted several holly bushes last fall. They are still green as expected, but it all appears to be old foliage. When should I expect them to start putting out some growth for this year? Also, there are a lot of dead branches that I have to trim. Having no experience with hollies I'm wondering if this sounds like their normal cycle. Many of my other bushes have started to produce leaves, so just a little concerned about their survival.

Hmmm, well if they don't like me now, they are going to hate me when I start moving them. My husband wants to put a much needed garage in that area (new plan). Oh well, wont be the first thing I've killed. Just a little more costly.
