gold mop false cypress

I just noticed that my cypress have quite a few less needles on them than in years past.
I have nine of them and they all look scarce with needles and some browning.
You think insect damage or just the very hot dry summer of last year?
Just gave them some holly tone.

Without a picture, its tough to say. Could have been the past summer...or winter. It happened to some of my Chamaecyparis pisifera one year (although mine are not 'Golden Mop') for reasons I never figured out. They were 8 years old at the time and that spring they dropped a lot of needles and lost a couple of small branches. The winter wasn't anything special nor was the summer before...go figure. They recovered and I haven't had a problem since. BTW, unless I know of a deficiency, I don't fertilize, especially a plant that's stressed.

it is a conifer ...

there is a conifer forum .. should you wish to learn more about conifers.. otherwise i do not care where you post ...

you need a hosting site for your pix like photobucket.com ...

internal browning is normal ...

external is not.. but can happen ... for a multitude of reasons .. including extreme drought ...

life is all in the tips.. if they remain green.. and start extending.. then the plant will live.. if it gets over what ever happened to it ... and w/o that pic.. we can not really guess ...

good luck
