| This cultivar seems to behave quite differently than all my other sweetshrubs, and although the flowers are delightful, the plant itself is becoming a bit of a liability. It does not seem to have the structural integrity of its kin, and whether I prune them (a) hard, (b) lightly and for architectural form, or (c) virtually not at all, I seem to get long, willowy growth that seems quite incapable of supporting itself gracefully. Has anyone had success making these into attractive plants? They grow for me somewhat like a Hydrangea mac., but with half the lignin and twice the vertical aspirations, and it is not such a terrific sight. Much obliged! |
