Can Forsythia tolerate periodic wet ground?

We're thinking of planting three Forsythia in a corner of our property where there's lots of room to grow. Can this shrub tolerate wet ground occasionally? This may happen once every few years. We have an October Glory maple that grows under the same conditions that grows quite well. I'm almost positive that I read that they can, but I don't recall where where that was.

I think it will be fine. I have a section of woods that is quite wet in the spring. I stuck a forsythia there a few years ago and it does just fine. This spring it is blooming nicely and the ground is so wet from record March rains, I dare not walk in it.

Thanks Wendyb for the quick reply; I just wasn't sure about the wetness tolerance, and I planned on stopping at our garden center today. They're having a $9.95 sale on the 'Lynwood' Forsythia.

Happy gardening
