question on blueberry shrub

Hi everybody.. I have a blueberry shrub that I bought....er...maybe last May. It is coming back very nicely now....it has lots of fresh leaves and I think I might be seeing the beginnings of some flowers! ;-) However, there are two stems on the plant where either the entire stem, or else the end half of the stem, has no fresh growth at all. In addition, I can see on these stems what appears to be buds that started but then sort of 'died'...they are essentially dessicated.

So....since all the rest of the plant is healthy and showing nice new growth, would it make sense to cut off these other two stems that seem to be dead and if so can I do it now, or do you recommend I do it at another time of year and if so when?

Mind you, I know that there's usually old wood stems from which the newer growth/stems are produced. But those are not the stems I'm talking about. These are two thinner stems from which I'd normally expect to see new growth, but am not.

Thanks!
