Cornus 'Ivory Halo'...do the stems turn green in the spring?

Hi, I was just noticing the stems on my Cornus 'Ivory Ha*lo' are just about green right now. I never noticed before that they were green in the spring. I'm sure they were red over the winter, is this what they usually do?

I've had some older stems turn green...

Twig dogwoods of all kinds often less colorful during the growing season than in winter.

The cultivar name is 'Bailhalo'. Ivory Halo is a registered trademark used to sell 'Bailhalo'.

Here is a link that might be useful: Cornus alba 'Bailhalo' (PP8,722)

That too...the stems seem to be reddest late winter.

I looked at mine yesterday, they're leafing out. Yes, the stems are going over to green.

Thanks, guess it does this every year and I never noticed.

Hi - Is there a big difference between Ivory Halo (Bailhalo) & Elegantissima. I have a 3rd season Bailhalo ... love it so much I dug up 2 huge Hostas last Fall to be replaced with IH Cornus Alba. But all I found were Elegantissima & since the foliage looked quite identical & tag info as well, I got 2 ... planted them next to each other. Will the 3 of them eventually pass up as same shrubs?

TIA for your input! €;)

Found growing among 'Argenteomarginata' ('Elegantissima'), is a more compact version with darker stems.

Here is a link that might be useful: United States Patent: PP08722

Thank you for the link bboy! The images didn't help much but it's OK ... I found more in my search. I think the 2 new Elegantissima will be fine where they are if I can shape them to similar heights as the young ones mature. I also found an old thread on Elegantissima here posted by chelone ... very helpful!!!

Thanks again! €;)
