Solid Green Leafed, White Flowered _Daphne odora_

Over the years, I've had good luck growing the commonly available winter daphne (_Daphne odora aureomarginata_)--pink/purple flowers, green creamy white-edged leaves. However, it is a totally different story with the solid green leafed, white flowered winter daphne. My plant has been in the ground several years, but it doesn't seem to grow. It is in adequately rich, well-drained soil and receives partial sun. Does anyone have any experience with this form of winter daphne or recommendations as to what I should do to improve its health? I've thought about feeding it with liquid Miraclegro, but I don't want to shock it into an untimely death. Right now, it looks as though it prefers to have a slow, protracted death; and I'm thinking that maybe the best thing I can do for it is to put it out of its misery.
