Is there a Loropetalum that's 3-4 feet and stays purple?
My mother bought a couple that looked purple in the nursery, but turned green after it started growing. I found Purple Pixie which is 1-2 feet and Purple Diamond which is 4-5 feet, but I need something inbetween.

We have this shrub in nearly every yard here in NW Florida - people just keep them trimmed to whatever heighth and width fits the space - you could do the same!

And note that those sizes given are not permanent - even if you (shudder) shear them into balls you will have to let them grow at least a little larger each year or you will eventually end up with stubble.

Shrubs and trees stop growing bigger each year when they are dead or dying.
